This year, a beautiful, dark, earthy red takes the stage as Pantone's 2015 color of the year. Color 18-1438, or “Marsala” takes its name from wine produced in the Italian city of Marsala in Sicily. The color has already seen some action with popular celebrities such as Blake Lively, Mila Kunis and Emma Stone on the red carpet in years past, but will likely begin popping up just about everywhere. Pantone had this to
say about the 2015 decision: “The impactful, full-bodied qualities of Marsala make for an elegant,
grounded statement color when used on its own or as a strong accent to many other colors. Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.”
Leatrice Eiseman – Executive Director at Pantone Color Institute – says “This hearty, yet stylish tone is
universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors. “ So you can look forward to seeing this strong color being represented in 2015 on everything from garage doors and window trim, to paint, clothing, and vehicles.
